Remaking a classic action film from the seventies would require access to the New York City subway system, which insisted that railroad protective liability insurance be in force and in hand prior to filming. Unfortunately for Sony Pictures Entertainment, MTA changed coverage requirements the day before the shoot.
MOVIE CREDIT
Due to the hazardous nature of the scenes, SPE’s liability insurer was unable to provide the coverage within the short time frame. To compound the problem, filming was set to begin on a holiday weekend. Could Lockton step in and help keep the cameras rolling?
"No matter what happens, you don’t want to shut down production." Janel Clausen, Vice President, Risk Management, explains how critical appropriate liability coverage is to keeping a movie shoot on time and on budget. "We can’t wait for paperwork. We need it NOW."
ON THE JOB 24/7
In order to place the additional required railroad liability, Lockton scrambled to secure the necessary coverage at an acceptable price within a day.
Then Lockton contacted the transit authority and arranged for permission for filming to begin as scheduled with the assurance that proper documentation would arrive on Monday.

Janel states, "I need someone who understands the details of our business and how time sensitive it is. I need a broker with an international presence and global relationships. Lockton offers us that depth of knowledge. I rely on them to keep their finger on the pulse of the marketplace. They’re on the job 24/7 along with us."
