The foundations for Kissick Construction reach deep into the soil around Kansas City. And deep within the genetic makeup of the current owner, Jim Kissick. His grandfather and father ran the original Kissick Construction, which ceased operation in the seventies when Jim's father died.
BUILDING ON LOYALTY
After nearly two decades at other construction companies, Jim, Pete Browne and three associates started their own company in 1994. Kissick Construction was back in business. Almost. The big project that was going to launch their success fell through. But struggle became hustle, and by year's end the company was 12 strong with many active projects. Jim had worked with Lockton at previous jobs, so he approached them about covering his fledgling construction company. Lockton saw the potential rooted in Kissick and became a willing partner.
"Our Lockton team takes very good care of us," Jim explains. "They make sure certificates are where they need to be when they need to be there. Those things you can take for granted on a day-to-day basis make a huge difference."
"WE'LL GET IT DONE."
When Kissick Construction had an opportunity to bid on a contract that required a performance bond three times greater than any previously required, Jim leaned on Lockton.

"They said, 'We'll get it done.' And they did." Jim Kissick is quick to share credit for his company’s growth with his "family" of long-time employees and the businesses that have supported his through the years, "We have had the same law firm since day one, the same banker since day three. And Lockton treats us no differently today at our current size than when we were just starting out."
