Dupont-Mexico

“Lockton brings us innovative thinking. They are like angels watching over us.” |
Dupont was the second company in Mexico to introduce a
flexible benefits plan. "It was risky because there was not much experience in the
market," reports Guillermo Wolf, Director of Human Resources. "After some time of
managing the program, we chose Lockton as a partner with vast experience that could
cover life insurance, major medical expenses and a pension plan for non-union employees
and retirees. The transition was seamless."
Dupont has five different major plans with more than 25 variations and options to
add to the basic plan. The plans are designed so that employees can select options
to suit their individual needs. "Lockton approached our flex plan in a very innovative
way. They restructured the financial part of the plan to not only lower our costs
but to ensure that we have a more committed workforce by giving employees choices
and making it easy."
In Mexico, the administration of flex plans is quite new and Dupont is one of the
few companies that have full flex plans. Dupont’s major problem is that year-to-year
costs increase exponentially. "Our Lockton partners help us find a balance between
these huge cost increases and the cost of maintaining high participation of employees
in the program. What makes them the most valuable to us is their continuous communication;
they keep us informed on the latest trends and legislative changes and that helps
us make the right decisions at the right time. Because of the quality of the service
we are receiving from Lockton, we could soon be extending to South America."
